How to protect your privacy (password and account access)?

You have control over the security of your Allegro account. Follow the advice below to use the website more safely.

We never ask for your password

An Allegro employee will never ask you for your account password in an e-mail! If you receive such a request from someone claiming to be an Allegro representative, don’t reply to the message and report the situation to us.

Password

• Don’t share your password with any third parties.
• To create a strong random password, use a password manager or a so-called passphrase – a cluster of many words that don’t constitute a logical sequence but are easy to remember. The use of upper and lower case letters, recognised by the system as different characters, is an additional security measure.
• Your password should consist of a minimum of 12 characters. Use upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
• Try to make it unique – don't use one password for all your accounts (e.g. your e-mail, Allegro account, and online banking account). To avoid having to remember them, use password managers – even those built into your web browser provide better protection than using a single password across multiple websites. What’s more, they have an advantage over the approach that consists in entering passwords every time – if you are on the wrong page, the browser won’t load the passwords on it, which can protect you from phishing and data loss.
• Don't create a password made up solely of common words (some online burglars use programs that use a dictionary). In particular, don’t create a password from words that can be easily guessed (such as words that can be associated with your name, your login, or your company name).
• Don’t use characters that are next to each other on the keyboard (e.g. qwerty, 123456, qweasd).
• Your password must not be your username or your first or last name.

Logging in securely

Use your username (or login as Client:YourIDnumber), password or Allegro e-mail to log in only to Allegro websites (e.g Allegro or Allegro Ads). If you receive an e-mail with a link to a page where you are asked to log in with your Allegro details, please pay attention to what page you are on. If the website isn’t ours or you have any doubts about it – don’t enter your details.

An additional security measure for your account is the two-factor login. Even if your password falls into the wrong hands, it will be impossible to use it to log in to your account, as it will also be required to enter the code from the text message. Logout

After browsing Allegro, it is worth logging out ― so that no unauthorized person can use your account on your computer. To do this, click on your login ― you will find it in the upper right corner of each page of the website ― and then Log out.
